Owner / Claims Manager
John has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He began his career in 1990 as an Auto Appraiser and learned quickly, attaining his Kentucky Adjuster’s license, shortly thereafter. He was trained as a multi-line adjuster working for several Kentucky-based independent adjusting firms. During his time with the firms, he held various supervisory and managerial positions. He was also tasked with opening new offices and growing the business. His adjusting experience and marketing talents made it possible for him to transition into a Regional Marketing Manager for a nationally known insurance restoration firm. He managed the sales teams for three offices and was part of their Large Loss Response Team, and Disaster Recovery Team and had additional duties as Storm Coordinator, Adjuster Liaison, and Insurance Vendor Program Processor. He opened Dotson & Associates, LLC in 2014 and has never looked back. He enjoys the challenge of building his own business. John is currently a licensed Independent Adjuster in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina and West Virginia. John holds designations as a Registered Professional Adjuster and a National Association of Independent Insurance Adjusters Certified Insurance Appraiser and Umpire. He has been on various committees with the NAIIA. He has held positions with the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators Kentucky/Tennessee Chapter and the Bluegrass Claims Association. He was voted the Bluegrass Claims Association Claims Person of the Year in 2005 and 2016 and Kentucky Claims Person of the Year in 2016.
Office Manager
Leah is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Communication Studies degree. She has worked as an Office Administrator for several Independent Insurance Agencies throughout Kentucky. She was a Sales Marketing Representative for a couple of insurance restoration companies for the entire State of Kentucky and Southern Indiana. In addition to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business, Leah still enjoys going out and marketing for Dotson & Associates LLC. Leah has utilized her marketing background to develop relationships through various Insurance Associations and Organizations.
Senior Adjuster
Sean has nearly 30 years of experience in the construction and insurance industries. His experience ranges from construction and restoration project management to claims supervision.He is a licensed Independent Adjuster in Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia.Sean holds designations as a P.L.A.N. Certified Property Loss Appraiser and Umpire. He also is Xactimate – Level 1 Certified.He has extensive training with OSHA and IICRC, holding several certifications while he was working in the construction and restoration industry.He graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in Healthcare Administration.
Inside Adjuster
Shelby began her career as an Adjuster Assistant in 2014 and assisted with a variety of claims. She also began familiarizing herself with Xactimate. She earned her Kentucky IndependentAdjuster license in 2015. Shelby has training in Filetrac and Xactimate and attained her Xactimate Level 1 Certification. Currently, she is an Inside Adjuster, assisting field staff with Filetrac and Xactimate estimating. She also provides additional support on large loss projects and contents claims.
Field Adjuster
Chris has nearly 30 years of insurance experience. He began his career as a Marketing Representative and Agent for a family-owned agency that specializes in public entities. He also served as a liaison between the agency and the claims department, gaining significant knowledge of the claims process. He transitioned from the agency side to the independent adjusting side and primarily focused on governmental entities and school systems. He also began handling commercial trucking losses, performing on-scene investigations across several states. He briefly owned his own multi-line adjusting firm handling claims in Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Chris is a licensed Independent Adjuster in Kentucky and Indiana. He is a proud veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
Dylan began his adjusting career in 2017 as Adjuster Assistant. He assisted in property inspections varying from wind, hail, water, fire, theft and vandalism. He also assisted with auto investigations and slip/fall claims. In October 2018, he attained his Kentucky Independent Adjuster license. Since acquiring his adjuster license, he has completed Xactimate training and in 2021 became certified as a HAAG Residential Roof Inspector.He continues to gain knowledge by attending seminars and training courses put on by various industry organizations. At present, he is working towards his Part 107 Drone Certification.
Claims Supervisor
Jeff has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. He graduated from Morehead State University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Jeff began his career as a multi-line adjuster with Wells Fargo Insurance Services handling both residential and commercial property and casualty losses on behalf of domestic insurers and certain London market underwriters through Wells Fargo's claims subsidiary, Prestige Claims Service. While working at Wells Fargo, Jeff was involved in the handling of one of the largest environmental losses in coal mining history on behalf of the property and casualty insurance carriers. With the sale of the claims subsidiary in 2001, Jeff was retained by Wells Fargo as a Claims Consultant, with a title of Assistant Vice President. As Claims Consultant, he acted as the client's advocate in coverage and damage dispute resolution. Jeff left Wells Fargo in 2003 and opened Sandy Valley Claims Service, a property and casualty independent adjustment company that he owned and operated for more than 20 years. Services provided included full adjustments and investigations for all lines of insurance on behalf of insurance companies, law firms, and self-insured clients. Jeff is a licensed independent adjuster in Kentucky and West Virginia.
